Sunday 25th January 2026 saw our third annual model show take place at the Y Pant school in Pontyclun, South Wales.
We were supported by over half a dozen traders and charity stands together with more than two dozen displays from clubs and individuals.
Here’s some of the messages we received on FaceBook:
“My first show since I was a child (50 years old now) and what a fantastic day, thank you to you and all of your team for and outstanding day. Had an absolute bargain with a 1/72 scale Vulcan for 20 quid so over the moon with that, and the displays were remarkable. Cannot wait for next year's show.” Phillip Perry
“My first show and, it was brilliant. The standard was so high. Also, great to talk to the exhibitors.” Martin Holt
“Thanks, guys, for another great show.” IPMS Gloucester & South Midlands MAFVA
“On behalf of the IPMS Calne Modellers I’d like to thank you guys for another great show. We had an enjoyable day and as always found everyone welcoming and friendly. We look forward to hopefully seeing you in 2027.”
“The show goes from strength to strength.” Darryl Dyke

Finally, a big thank you to everyone in the club who took part. Adrian for organising it, and for the evening meals; and Louise for doing the teas and coffees; Dai for putting up the signs, marshalling the car parking at the start, and for doing the presentations; Mike G for stepping in to help people set up at the start, and later helped look after our stand together with Paul B; Mike J and Dave B for taking in the entrance fees; Richard and Dave C for running the competitions; Peter for whom this was his first show, for helping with the car parks, then helping with the entrance fees and generally mucking in whenever required; for Tim's grandson Charlie who at the age of 13 had some very impressive models; as were his grandfather Tim's models; talking of which to Nigel B who had a 1/72nd scale submarine with some really realistic water effect; and to everyone else, a big thank you.
We set up the tables on the Friday evening and did it all in under an hour, and on Sunday night after the show, we had all the tables and chairs back in place in around half an hour.
One thing that caught my attention was that Tim had an old Matchbox model of Monty's caravan on display. John Paulding on the Cambridge stand saw it and told me that he had made the master pattern of the kit whilst working for Matchbox all those years ago!
And finally, a big thank you to all of the clubs and traders for supporting us. See you again next year!
